JACKIE from Edinburgh
I’ve used a number of Wemos and Amazon names, and by FAR, this setup was the simplest. The software was downloaded, and it literally just took a minute for it to find the plug and add it to my home network. I don’t want to utilize Google, Siri, Alexa, or any of the other three, and I don’t own or want a hub. I just need a straightforward tool that allows me to make a timetable and forget about it. That’s it! One plug has a timetable that has it turning on and off twice daily, and another plug has a different schedule. Two other plugs are still in the package and can be utilized.

I recently bought a different brand of this similar design smart wi-fi plug. I tried to set them up after I had unpacked them and downloaded the app on my phone. One of them connected to my network in under ten minutes, but the other one would not join for over thirty. I gave up, re-boxed them, and handed them back.

DEXTER from Perth
This year, I wanted smart plugs for my Christmas tree. Normally, to switch on and off the lights, we must plug and unplug the three. My kids and I occasionally fail to turn off the tree at night or fail to think to plug it in at all. I was accurate when I assumed that automating the lights would be possible using smart plugs. Four Tapo Smart Plugs are packaged together. I have two extra to use for other appliances as I only needed two for my tree (lights and star). They are quite simple to set up. Once you download the Tapo app, it walks you through each step. The plugs were simple to connect to my wifi and started operating right away.

CHARLEY from Glasgow
I probably should have known this before I made the purchase, but I assumed TP-link would work with my current TP-link smart devices. Wrong; a brief scan of the internet reveals that Tapo is a new Tp-Link platform that connects over a 922MHz network rather than merely Wi-Fi, which explains why I was unable to add it to my Tp-Link Kasa app. However, it was really rather simple to set up once I downloaded the app and handed up my firstborn according to the terms and conditions. In roughly 45 seconds, including scanning, connecting, and labeling, I inserted my first Smart plug. After that, it upgraded the firmware naturally, which took a minute or so. The process was very simple, and connecting to the Alexa skill only took 15 seconds.
